Blog for Finals (ICT)

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=492124790801523 - This Link is a video presentation and somewhat an interview, sent from one of my Aunt in Korea, it discuss about how they use ICT in their country.

These are several parts of our conversation:

According to her in Korea, some institution already provide computers in every classroom for the students to be introduce even in their early age, also the assignments and quizzes are more likely presented with the use of Computer since the monitor used in every classroom can cater a large group of students. If a particular student is absent and the teacher is conducting a test he/she can still cope up and answer it by answering some questions from the website the teacher provided. As much as possible the teacher want the computer as one medium of instruction in a teaching - learning process.

Reflection in Midterm Lessons :)

For Midterms I was given the chance to learn the Complex-Thinking Skills to create projects, it serve as a basis or guide in making creative and informative presentations /projects for the students. It can be categorized to different angles and focus we have: Focusing, Information Gathering, Remembering, Analyzing, Generating, Organizing, Imagining, Designing,Integrating and Evaluating with these thinking skills students will be guided in making projects with a clear picture and focus, some of the sub-skills in the given thinking skills has the manifestation of associating and relating NEW data with the OLD, also it summarizes and abstracting and it considers testing ideas and setting criteria for evaluation.

I was also introduced in recognizing the advantage and disadvantage of Computer it was clearly elaborated that computers have this what we called pyramiding scam that creates biases to an individual, computer games not just applications but also Lottery, in this, computers are use as basis of giving out prizes, also POKER games for gamblingPornography for the curiosity of small minds and also implies addiction to dirty minded individuals which leads to commit crime and lastly Plagiarism you are stealing the ideas of other person without permission which I believe students nowadays are use to do COPY+PASTE (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) and unaware of the word respect and reputation in the part of the author or contributor.

Computer as a tutor, it relieves the teacher in making or doing presentations that needs time. In the topic it was clearly stated that computers cannot totally replaced the teachers role since the teacher will be the one to continue elaborating and also they play the major roles of information deliverer in teaching-learning process.  By using computer as a teacher/tutor the three members of the process plays a vital role let me cite two examples for each:

Teacher - they should insure that before students use computers they are already introduced and know how to manipulate/use it.
            - they will still plan for the whole sequence and structured activities to achieve the learning objectives.

Students - they will be the one to receive the information.
             - they should apply the knowledge and rules during the process of computer learning.

Computer - it provides learning environment.
              - it provides feedback, in the sense that computers should provide test questions and accurate scores of students depending on the criteria programmed.

In today's time mentors or teachers need to be keen in providing right information to students and also they must consider the proper usage of computers not just in school but also outside.

Reflection in Preliminary Lessons :)

One of the major advantages in Educational Technology is that students are highly motivated in terms of learning, one concrete example is the Project-Based students are responsible for their learning which help them actively engaged and earn participation in class room. This method is one of those effective styles in encouraging students and also it gives them inspiration in attending class.

ICT I can share some advantages of these proposal in my own perception: Communication channels are increased because of electronic mails and group discussions with the use of social networking, Development of higher level learning styles, Flexibility of "anytime, anywhere" access and also the teacher will have easier planning and preparations of lessons and designing materials.

Because of ICT transmission of basic skills in education will be easily integrated since computers are made for user's convenient, and students nowadays are highly active when it comes to technology. This opportunity can lead us to be in globally competition since most of countries around the word is implementing this ICT, which can reinforce teachers to share the lessons and for the students to grasp it in a enjoyable and adventurous way.

I also want to share the 4 methods in students learning, all of them relies on past lessons and experiences except the discovery learning by that, teachers can choose and apply series of methods to share his/her knowledge and ideas.

ICT in South Korea

Technology is a perception that deals with the usage and knowledge of tools and crafts, it is needed nowadays since most of the people are engaged and oriented on this new era.

My aunt is one of the Korean tutors in South Korea, she said that the government implemented a good proposal regarding the usage of computers in education, according to her the the government recognizes the
importance of equal access to information sharing in a knowledge-based society, or shall I say they want to be aware and globally competitive. They provided computers and financial implement support to students from poor families, enabling them to learn how to use computers and the Internet. She also said that children from low-income families were given opportunities for computer lessons and practice. In addition, outstanding students
received free PCs and financial rewards so that Korean students will be motivated to know more about computers.

Realizations in EDTECH 2 for the first week of discussion :)

My brain is still in the page of Project-Based Multimedia Learning, I learned many things from this topic such as, teachers should monitor and guide students not just simply lectures as a means of imparting the lessons, also students will have the chance to enhance their creativity and technical knowledge since this topic will be more effective if Computers are present.

I also learned that in implementing computer subjects in curriculum, you need to set accurate and reliable goals and objectives.
